Farming in Petit Planet is not a separate minigame; it is the supply line for cooking, gifting and several Footprint tracks. The first harvest is slow, but once the plots are in place, a five-minute daily routine keeps the pantry full.
Unlocking farming
Farming unlocks through the Luca Arbor at level 2. You need Luca and Lucasprout, and the farming feature must be purchased before you can create plots. If the shovel will not make a plot, check the tree.
The Luca Arbor also unlocks additional farm plots at levels 3, 6, 8, 11, 16, 18, 21, 22, 26, 27, 29 and 31. Each batch is four plots, so the farm grows in clear steps rather than one plot at a time.
The full Luca Arbor guide lists every level and cost.
Creating and planting plots
Use the Shovel to create a farming plot, then plant a seed. Seeds come from shops, Starsea surprise boxes, wild plants and event rewards. Some crops are seasonal; others are available year-round.
A practical first farm is a mix:
- One fast-growing crop for daily cooking.
- One fruit or vegetable that a neighbor loves.
- One flower or specialty crop for gifts and decoration.
- One experimental plot for a new seed.
Do not fill every plot with the same crop. Variety keeps cooking recipes open and protects you from a bad quality roll.
Watering and weather
Use the Watering Bucket or Watering Can on planted plots. The exact watering cadence depends on the crop, and the Luca Arbor’s weather system can change how often you need to water.
As a rule, water every plot when you log in, then check again before you log out. If a crop looks dry, water it; there is no penalty for overwatering in the beta loop.
Fertilizer and crop quality
Fertilizer is a quality input. It is also a liked gift for Yunguo, which makes it a useful item to keep a small stack of. Use fertilizer on crops you intend to cook or gift, not on bulk produce you plan to sell.
Higher-quality crops are worth more and produce better dishes. If you are chasing a specific recipe quality, fertilize the ingredient crop rather than the final dish.
What to grow first
The best early crops are the ones that feed multiple recipes and neighbors:
- Fruit: used in teas, slushies, pies and desserts; loved by Yunguo, Manna and Tika.
- Rice and grains: used in puddings, buns and bowls; a reliable cooking base.
- Bamboo: a loved gift for Yunguo and an ingredient in bamboo recipes.
- Vegetables: useful for savory dishes, but avoid giving them to Rebella, who dislikes veggies.
- Flowers: used for decoration, gifts and some cooking recipes.
Check the dish database for recipes that use the crops you already have. Cooking a crop is usually more valuable than selling it raw.
A daily farming routine
- Harvest anything ready.
- Water every plot.
- Replant empty plots immediately.
- Fertilize one or two quality crops.
- Check the cooking counter for a recipe that uses the harvest.
- Sell only the surplus, not the ingredients you need for gifts.
- Check the farming Footprints before logging out.
The routine should take five minutes. If it takes longer, you have too many plots for your play schedule; the Luca Arbor will let you expand later.
Farming for profit
Selling raw crops is the least profitable use of a harvest. Cooking adds value, gifting adds bond, and high-quality ingredients can be saved for requests. If you need Dough quickly, sell common surplus and keep the rare quality.
A simple profit priority:
- Cook loved dishes for neighbors.
- Cook high-strength dishes for your own use.
- Sell common surplus.
- Save rare seeds and high-quality crops.
- Use fertilizer on the crops that feed the most recipes.
Neighbor help
Yunguo is the farming neighbor. At Bond Lv. 5 she helps water crops, and at Lv. 8 she sets up a Crop Garden on your planet. If you hate the watering routine, prioritize her bond track.
Tika can clear wildgrass at Bond Lv. 4, which keeps the farm edges tidy, and several other neighbors like farm decor, so a pretty farm is also a gift source.
Common farming mistakes
Planting everything at once. You will be overwhelmed at harvest time. Stagger planting.
Selling all the fruit. Fruit is a Gift category for multiple neighbors and a cooking staple.
Ignoring fertilizer. Quality matters for cooking and gifting, not just for selling.
Forgetting the tree. If you need more plots, the answer is the Luca Arbor, not a bigger field.
Watering only when you remember. A quick login to water is more efficient than a long session after a dry day.
Farming is slow by design. The reward is a pantry that makes every other system easier: cooking, gifting, Homi Decor and the daily Footprints. Plant a small field, keep it watered and let the rest of the planet come to you.
A note on spoilers & updates: This page is written for the global version of Petit Planet and may include pre-launch and beta details. Game systems can change before the Winter 2026 release. Facts are checked against the official site and the community-maintainedPetit Planet Wiki.
